Where to Stay in Hanamaki Onsen and Hanamaki
Hanamaki Onsen’s hotels stand in Yumoto and in villages along the Dai and Toyosawa rivers in western Hanamaki. Start with Koyokan in Yumoto for its mountain-view rooms and reserved station shuttle.
The resort and the river valleys
Yumoto is Hanamaki Onsen’s main resort area on the Dai River. The wider hot-spring district, or onsenkyo, includes villages with their own springs. Shidotaira, Osawa and Namari lie along the Toyosawa River in the western valley. Dai Onsen has traditional inns and free-flowing hot springs along its village streets. Hanamaki city is east of the hot-spring villages.
- Family: Hotel Shidotaira.

- Lower budget in an onsen village: Fujisan Ryokan.
- City stay for an early road departure: Hotel Route Inn Hanamaki.
Tatami are floor mats; hotels use their number to describe the size of a Japanese room. A Japanese-Western room has both a tatami area and Western beds.
